ASPHALT
The main use of bituminous mixtures is road construction. In the USA, bituminous mixtures are called asphalt and consist mainly of two components, aggregate and binder. The main difference between asphalt and concrete is the use of bitumen and bituminous substances as binders in asphalt.
AGGREGATES
Digital Point Load Testing Machine is used to determine the strength values of a rock sample both in the field and in the laboratory. It consists of a 60 kN capacity load frame with an upper and lower conical plate, a digital readout unit, pressure transducer and a hydraulic loading jack. The frame can be adjusted for testing samples up to 102 mm diameter. A frame-mounted ruler allows direct measurement of the distance between the tapered plates before and after testing. Compressive load is measured with a pressure transducer attached to an advanced digital easily portable wooden case.
